Hello everyone,

Anton “Evilly” Pankov, WG producer, recently answered some question for WoT Fan channel. Here’s a summary.

- there are 11 new tanks in 9.5, because there will be two tier 5′s and two tier 6′s (5: Sherman, Archer, 6: Firefly and Achilles)
- tier 10 British MT will not be replaced in 9.5
- Evilly confirms that the 9.5 branch will bring Archer, Charioteer (on tier Cool and Firefly
- tier 10 in 9.5 will be “quite mobile and agile” vehicle FV4005
- 9.5 will bring new Individual Missions (missions of various difficulties with tanks as rewards)
- the IM tanks include T28 Concept, T-55A and Object 260

Evilly also confirms that as a part of the New Year mission marathon, WG will allow you to get “unique tank, that wasn’t introduced to the game yet” in a mission (SS: T-34-85M and Grosstraktor apparently)

- a shell in the game is represented by a single point, not an object. As such, a shell can pass through holes, that are smaller than its caliber
- developers are still thinking what to do with T-44-85
- it’s possible T-34-85M will be “available before the end of the year” – it depends on whether it’s “ready” (to be released)
- developers will not disclose the internal tank module layout (the way it is in War Thunder), there will however be an “armor inspector”
- ammo rack damage (SS: as in the possibility to damage ammo racks) will not be removed from the game
- some guns have “wrong” damage (inconsistent with other guns of its caliber)? “We will definitely fix that, as soon as we recieve the data on historical damage value these guns had”
- a player claimed that certain tanks have higher chance to get certain maps and gave “Chaffee” and “Stalingrad” as an example, Yurko2F stated this is not true for the tanks the player gave as an example
- the fact that Porsche heavy tank tracks have thicker armor than the Henschel ones is “compensated by other characteristics”
- Storm admits that the ramming system is screwed. It will be reworked and simplified by removing the fact that the armor calculated currently during the ramming is the one at the point of contact. Instead, the armor considered when ramming will simply be the nominal armor, taken from the tank characteristics (nominal front/side/rear armor) on the side that rammed (or got rammed).

Individual Missions Coming to EU Server

Hello everyone,

many thanks to German player maXTC for this one. His friend (the name was redacted), who did not touch World of Tanks for an extended period of time (since early summer) recieved the following picture on his game-registered e-mail. Wargaming is clearly trying to lure older players back into the game.

It says: “We want you back!” and offer individual missions to the returning player as such (no time limit for the tasks):

- for simple return and playing one battle: 7 days premium account
- play 15 battles: 10 gold repair kits, 500 gold, 500k credits
- win 10 battles: 10 gold medkits, 500 gold, 500k credits
- gain 25k XP: 10 gold extinguishers, 500 gold, 500k credits

Plus a Dicker Max for free for simply logging in. Now that’s nice of Wargaming, isn’t it…

First, a small correction – remember the Dicker Max individual mission post? It turns out that you get the Dicker Max after completing the previous missions, not straight away. I apologize for the mistake.

- Q: “Everybody knows that in 9.5, tanks will get a viewrange nerf…” A (Storm): “Everybody knows, only I don’t know anything.”
- apparently, IS-7 and IS-8 rear side armor are historical (they have correct shape)
- SerB confirms that it’s possible for a shell to pass through a hole, that is smaller than its caliber in WoT, but: “Probability of that is somewhere around 1 to 100k – we are ignoring that and will continue to ignore that.”
- Q: “Why do you want to nerf the viewrange of 300 vehicles for the sake of 5 tier 8 LT’s? It’s connected to the “war on TD’s” and bad arty nerf. I propose: reduce team size to 12, hardcap arty to 2 per side and take half of their shells away!” A: “Game design by players sucks. Instead of fixing the respective parameter you propose to change the general game rules, after you bash us for making too big changes. Logic, logic everywhere.” (SS: the translation of the answer here is not literal, for example the first sentence is actually a quote, that makes little sense in English. Was trying to keep the point SerB made instead.)
- T-44-85 and T-34-85M in the game? “When it’s done it’s done.”
- Coated optics is active all the time, not only when the vehicle is moving
- Q: “Enough with the “improving” of team battles!” A: “Well, that’s up to you whether you have enough or not. Noone is keeping you here.”

- Storm states that the new ramming mechanism was introduced in 9.4, because “the old one was very badly bugged”
- Storm confirms that the mission to get the Object 260 will be multi-stage and it will be very difficult to get it
- a lot of players (even on EU server) reported a garage bug, where the camera suddenly zooms out very far, Storm states he knows about it, it will be fixed
- Soviet tier 8 premium medium T-54 Model 1945 will come next year
- Havok: “when it’s done it’s done”
- it will be possible to get all three IM reward tanks (Object 260, T55A and T28 Concept) on your account
- Char B1 in the game doesn’t use the hull howitzer, because it was aimed only by moving the entire vehicle (it has 0 traverse)
- Q: “French tanks of tier 1-4 suck” A (SerB): “Don’t play French tier 1-4 tanks”
- apparently, EU servers were DDOSed recently, Storm is investigating the situation
- Q: “I have a SSD. Loading battles is fine, but whenever I quit the battle, it takes very long time for the results to load (I am stuck on “spinning wheel”), why is that? A friend of mine has a regular HDD and he has no such issues.” A (Storm): “It’s a problem with connection. After the fight is over, a large volume of data with battle statistics is transferred. And it’s this data pack that the game is waiting for, until it arrives. If you have packet loss, it’s possible to wait for it for a long time, until all the info is confirmed to have arrived.”
- Storm on various Russian “experts” whining about upcoming new tank motion physics: “A country of natural born experts. Sometimes they produce Boeing photos out of nowhere, sometimes they telepathically evaluate the physics at long distance. Why aren’t we colonizing Mars with such people?”
- apparently, to replace the effect of terrain resistance (and to justify some tanks moving slower with the same horsepower), a new parameter will be introduced in the new motion physics: “loss of horsepower in transmission and drivetrain”.
- no ETA on new motion physics test for now

SerB on player proposals: “Everything you can propose to us was already considered a long time ago and either it was scrapped (99,9 percent) or is in the queue, waiting to be implemented (0,1 percent). And so with the game growing grows mainly the amount of old stuff and crap, sorry. ‘The population grows, but the sum of all intellect remains unchanged’

You can now invite friends to play World of Tanks with you, using our new Refer-A-Friend Program!

How to Refer A Friend

There are two different types of referrals that you can make:

- A referral for a NEW player (someone who has never played World of Tanks)
- A referral for an INACTIVE player (someone who has not played for at least 60 days)

To invite a player using the Refer a Friend Program, you input either

- Their email address (for NEW players)
- Their username, onto the “Invite Player” section of your Account Management page (for INACTIVE players)The player that you have invited will need to accept the invitation by following the link that is provided in the email that is sent to them.

The inviting player will be able to see the different invites that they have sent out and whether or not they have been accepted.

You will earn invitations based upon how many games you have played (starting with 100 games required). You will have a maximum of 10 invitations available at any one time. Invites are only regained once a player accepts or declines your invite.

The Refer A Friend Bonus

When a referred player platoons with the player that referred them, both players will receive a boost in experience earned. This amount is dependent on the factors including: when the referral was accepted and how much experience a player has earned on their account so far. You will receive the highest bonus available when platooning with multiple invitees.

Referrals are added to your Friends List. They are easily recognizable by the handshake icon next to their user name in the client.

You can track the amount of experience that your referred friend has earned while platooning with you from your Account Management page.

Rewards for the Recruiter are based both on the amount of experience that the player earns while platooned with you and when playing solo or with other players. You are alsorewarded with the tank when the player reaches and purchases a tier X vehicle (this is for new referrals only.)

as announced earlier, micropatch 0.9.4.1 (3,5 MB + 10 MB “localization package”) was applied today to the EU client. So, do you think it fixed the nasty bugs from 9.4? Well, not all…

Premium Tank XP Modifier Not Used in Crew Training

the following information is based on the investigation into this matter, that appeared in the German section of EU forums, specifically the data by Schrottkiste and General_Jack_D_Ripper (thanks for letting me know, General Smile )

The outcome of the abovelinked thread is:

Premium tank XP bonus modifier (that was introduced not so long ago) does NOT count towards the crew XP, used in that tank.

That also means the “graphs”, used in the abovelinked WG post are useless, because they do not represent the real training curve. General_Jack_D_Ripper explains:

Tank XP gained: 940XP * 2(daily) + 657XP for using premium vehicle) = 2537XP -> Crew received 940XP * 2(daily) *1,5(crew-XP modifier for premium vehicle) = 2820XP
Crew should actually have received: [940XP * 2(daily) + 940XP * 0,7(Tier II premium vehicle XP modifier)] * 1,5(Premium vehicle crew XP modifier) = 3807XP

The original WG post advertises, that players need * 2,55 less battles(1,5 * 1,7) in Tier II, while in reality it is 1,5 less battles for ever Tier. As a “bonus”, if a player uses Accelerated Crew Training, 100% of XP “for use of a premium vehicle” is lost.

Conclusion

This bug was confirmed by WG support staff (Mr. Luke Vos) and passed on to WG developers for fixing.

Nothing really going on with testing these days. Internally, WG is still “on track”, the patch 9.5 is scheduled for late December, which means that the common 9.5 will start somewhere around early december and the supertest should start in late November. It’s all very, very tight.

- Q: “WTF devs I live in Volgograd (Stalingrad) why did you not put the house I live in on the map and deleted it to make room for one of the bases?” A (SerB): *sobbing*
- Q: “Developers, currently I am grinding with T-34-3 and I am doing a lot of damage with someone else spotting. If you are going to nerf viewrange, will you give premium tanks some profit compensation for the loss of damage done when someone else was spotting?” A (SerB): “Let’s say we reduce the viewrange. If we reduce the viewrange, damage with someone else spotting will make a larger share from the total damage done. Are you proposing to reduce the rates in order to keep the situation as it is now? Okay, we’ll think about it!”
- Q: “Why are you making unfair missions/events?” A (SerB): “So greedy kids like you suffer”
- Storm states, that if you have a sharp FPS drop when you “light up” (scout) several enemies at once, it might mean your HDD is slow and takes a long time to load the models. Defragmentation sometimes helps somewhat.
- Individual Missions (the ones in 0.9.5 with Object 260, T55A and T28 Concept) will not be time-limited (SS: as in, there will not be a specific time limit in which you have to achieve the objective), but Storm at the same time is warning that you shouldn’t be too happy about that just yet, because the conditions will be difficult.

Huge Price Increase on War Thunder Causes Shitstorm

Hello everyone,

I am sure all of you are aware of the Ukraine crisis and the sanctions the western world has imposed upon Russia as a result. This is where it gets a bit complicated, but basically – based on this sanctions, combined with questionable Russian monetary policy, the exchange rate of Russian ruble dropped drastically. As a result, for Russian players of both War Thunder and World of Tanks, the prices actually seriously increased, as both companies have the prices tied to US Dollar.

Unlike Wargaming, that was smart enough not announce this stuff publicly on the portal and simply showed the prices on RU server with the fluctuations in mind, Gaijin (War Thunder producer) announced price increases all across the board publicly yesterday.

The price increases in rubles are significant and that’s putting it mildly. For example, the prices of “golden eagles” (equivalent of WG gold):

150 GE from 29,92 to 44,99
500 GE from 99,03 to 129
1000 GE from 179,1 to 259
2500 GE from 440,05 to 599
5000 GE from 799 to 1099
10000 GE from 1549,04 to 2099
15000 GE from 2199,4 to 3049
20000 GE from 2900,2 to 3999
25000 Ge from 3499,03 to 4899

Etc. (full list in the link).

Naturally, a huge shitstorm arose on Gaijin forums, with players pledging never to buy anything ever again, saying that it’s too expensive etc. I can only imagine the amount of rage such a post would cause on RU forums…

here is the list of missions and discounts, that awaits us, courtesy of the Insider.

First and foremost: there are NO specific tier 10 discounts (“Top of the Tree”) for December and for January, as all tier 10′s will be on discount.

1.12.-1.1.: Monthly Missions

- win 3 battles while driving a tier 5+ tank once per day (must be in top 10 in XP), get 75k credits
- complete the mission above 15 times, get 700 gold

6.12.-9.12.: “Winter Wolfpack”

- x3 XP for first victory
- 30 percent discount on tier 6-7 regular medium tanks
- 50 percent discount on tier 5 regular medium tanks
- 30 percent discount on Panzer IV Schmalturm and M10 Panther

- deal at least 1000 damage in battle while surviving in a tier 4+ medium tank, get 50 percent crew XP bonus
- destroy at least 1 medium tank in battle in a tier 4+ vehicle, get 50 percent crew XP bonus
- destroy 50 medium tanks (repeatable) in a tier 4+ vehicle, get 10 gold repair kits, 10 gold medkits, 10 gold extinguishers12.12.-15.12.: “Quality time”

- get 10k XP in a tier 4+ vehicle (must be in top 10 in XP), get 5 gold repair kits
- complete the mission above 3 times, get 3 days of premium

15.12.- 24.12.: “Countdown has started”

Upon logging in, you automatically get 9 days of premium

- double crew XP for everyone (must be in top 10 in XP)

At this point, the Christmas celebrations are starting.

24.12.-15.1.: “New Year Discounts”

- 50 percent discount on barracks slots
- 50 percent discount on camo, emblems, inscriptions
- 50 percent discount on consumables
- 50 percent discount on crew training, crew retrain, crew skill reset
- 80 percent discount on crew name and face changes

- 15 percent discount on all regular tier 8-10 tanks
- 30 percent discount on all regular tier 6-7 tanks
- 50 percent discount on all regular tier 2-5 tanks

- 50 precent discount on equipment
- 50 percent discounts on garage slots
- 50 percent discounts on tier 4 premium tanks (oddly enough, in the list, tier 5 prems are not on discount, might be a mistake)
- 30 percent discounts on tier 6 and 7 premium tanks
- 15 percent discounts on tier 8 premium tanks

Here, there was one weird part in the write up, that did not make much sense (the event was split into three separate “rounds”, I tried to sum it up).

24.12.-15.1.: “T-34-85M”

This mission is oddly enough listed as “global”, but Evilly on RU server stated that RU server has something else, so it’s likely every server has this individually.

- get 50k XP (premium and doubles apparently count) on a tier 6+ vehicle from every nation (350k total), for every nation you get 3 days of premium (21 days in total)
- for completing all 7, you get the T-34-85M tier 6 premium medium tank

24.12.-15.1.: “Gift Tank”

If you log on between these dates, you will get Panzer II Ausf.D gift tank with a garage slot for free, as well as 5 “food” consumables for each nation (35 in total) and 1 day of premium.

24.12.-1.1.: x5 XP for first victory
1.1.-5.1.: double XP for all victorious battles (must be in top 10 in XP)
5.1.-10.1.: triple crew XP (must be in top 10 in XP)

10.1.-13.1.: “2015 is a Winner”

- triple XP for every victory (must be in top 10 in XP)
- bonus to free XP conversion (1 gold = 35 XP)
- play in tier 4+ regular vehicle (must be in top 10 in XP), get 30 percent more credits
- play in tier 4+ regular vehicle (must be in top 3 in XP), get 40 percent more credits

The two missions above add up to 70 percent in total

13.1.-19.1. “Back to normal”

- double crew XP (must be in top 10 in XP)

24.1.-27..: “Fall of Tripoli”

- following vehicles get 50 percent income bonus: Panzer II, Panzer III, Panzer IV, StuG III (Ausf.G), Valentine, Matilda, Crusader, M3 Stuart, M5 Stuart, M3 Lee, M4, Wolverine, Bishop, Priest
- Tiger H gets 30 percent income bonus
- win 15 battles in a tier 4+ vehicle (repeatable, must be in top 10 in XP), get 10 gold repair kits
- complete the previous mission 2 times, get 1 day of premium account

T-34-85M Mission in December

As per the Insider’s info, I bring you… the grand WG EU surprise.

Mission starts: 24.12.2014
Mission ends: 15.1.2015

Condition: grind 50k XP for each nation (350k XP total, premium XP and doubles count AFAIK), using a tier 6+ tank
Reward: T-34-85M tier 6 premium Soviet medium tank.

Each nation (each 50k) is handled by a separate mission. For fulfilling each nation mission, you get 3 days of premium account. After they all are completed, you get the tank.

Edit: According to Evilly, RU server will have another tank and with different dates, so it’s completely possible this mission is EU-specific.

Wargaming Patents E-50M

we all knew that the E-50M is a Wargaming-invented fake, but now, we have a legal document to prove it! Smile Many thanks to Alpha_Dude for finding this info.

On 24.7.2012, Wargaming filed a patent application (no. 29/427,959) to protect the E-50M design. The proceedings took more than two years and on 9.9.2014, the patent protection of the E-50M design was approved. It’s now protected for 14 years.

Funnily enough, the “inventor” of the patented vehicle is noone else than Sergei Burkatovskyi (aka SerB). There you have it, SerB is officially the inventor of the E-50M Smile

Hello everyone,

tomorrow, RU server is going to get another hotfix, the 0.9.4.2. ETA on other servers is not known. This hotfix will contain following changes:

- fixed the M53/M55 collision model
- fixed the incorrect display of regular XP recieved in the post-battle debriefing window (SS: that’s the “got wrong XP” bug)

Hello everyone – check this interesting article about the birth of the M48, especially the video at the end.

- aimtime in the game represents “the comfort, with which the gun was aimed”, this parameter “quite adequately” represents reality
- Q: “Gun stabilization parameter confuses people!” (SS: gun stabilization in this case is a general term for a set of parameters, that determine how much the aim circle will get bigger when the tank moves its hull, turret etc.). A (SerB): “Your opinion is, as usual, very important to us.”
- theoretically the D-10-85 gun could fit the KV-13 turret, but since it was not proposed for it in real life, it was not implemented as an option for it. If WG added it, the vehicle would be “significantly better than other tanks of its tier”
- Q: “SerB, do you deny that various tanks have various chance of hitting the center of the circle?” A: “Yes, we deny. Because it’s a CONSPIRACY!!! And what kind of CONSPIRACY!!! would it be, if it wasn’t denied.”
- Q: “When will your nerf gold ammo for credits, whenever I drive E-75, I immediately get shot at by gold” A (Storm): “Statistically, the amount of gold shells hitting the E-75 is less than 20 percent of all shells”

- there was a rumor going around that E25 DPM will be nerfed from 2700 to 2350 DPM. It is not true.- Storm confirms that active antivirus software can have very negative effect on WoT (specifically Kaspersky, but on several threads, disabling AVAST, ESET and Norton AV was said to have very positive impact on the game performance and removes lags)
- Evilly states that RU players will learn of their mission details around 15th of December, but they will not have a T-34-85M mission like EU server does.
- the RU server mission tank will not be T-44-85, BUT it’s possible the T-44-85 will be revived
- it’s “too early to tell” about the Object 260 mission, it’s still being developed
- Evilly confirms the existence of the Premium tank crew XP bug, will be fixed – at least the part with the disappearing XP (when you enable accelerated training). As for the rest – apparently, in 9.4, the XP calculation was stealth-changed (WG forgot to add the announcement to the patchnotes) and it works correctly the way it is. Evilly: “The inaccuracy lies in the fact that in 9.4, tanks have 50 percent bonus to crew XP, but this does not include the bonus XP, that is awarded to the premium tank based on its tier. This was the reason for complications. We did put it into the patch, but not in the patchnotes.”
- in one of the upcoming patches (likely 9.6) premium tanks will get further (economic) buffs
- Evilly later adds to this topic that he would like to see the crew XP situation returned to the way it was in 9.3 (with additional bonus, even though it was not intended). It will be discussed amongst the developers.

Hello everyone,

by now, you probably know about the concept of individual missions. Simply put, they are missions that some players have and others don’t. Please don’t confuse it with the upcoming 9.5 feature, the individual missions for all players. The “first round” of these are the missions intended for players, who were inactive for a long time:

- for simple return and playing one battle: 7 days premium account
- play 15 battles: 10 gold repair kits, 500 gold, 500k credits
- win 10 battles: 10 gold medkits, 500 gold, 500k credits
- gain 25k XP: 10 gold extinguishers, 500 gold, 500k credits
- do all the missions above, get Dicker Max

Anyway, you already know that. What you do not know however is that this mission is time limited. It has to be completed until 1.1.2015 – this date seems to be common to all the players, so if you “return” tomorrow, you’ll have one day less to complete it.

just letting you know that the second hotfix patch on EU server is due tomorrow morning. Its contents:

- fixed the M53/M55 collision model
- fixed the incorrect display of regular XP recieved in the post-battle debriefing window (SS: that’s the “got wrong XP” bug)
- returned the sound of tracks when the tank is moving
- fixed the constant popping up of the tutorial window bug

Also, noticed how they suddenly admitted on EU forums the error with the premium tank XP calculation? Well, that was funny… apparently, the “info flow” about that error was: German section – FTR – RU videomaker Murazor – everyone else on RU server and WG noticed somewhere between Murazor and everyone else, so yea, congratulations to the German guys for noticing the bug, too bad it took Murazor for WG to notice.

Hello everyone,

thank for exactly 47 mails about this very same issue, it seems this bothered a lot of people. Basically, unicum clan UNICA and their offshoot, UN1CA rigged a CW battle, got caught pants down, someone created a rage thread on forums (that got closed in the meanwhile) and the rigged battle will be investigated (it’s a bannable offense, especially in campaigns). In the aftermath, the second clan commander went mental and kicked everybody or something.

I mean… I am surprised so many people were even bothered with this. Or did you think that with high winrate comes positive attitude or – heaven forbid – moral integrity? Of course not, there is no corellation between the two. What surprised me the most is the ammount of attention this got, but hey, I guess people like a drama every now and then… Smile

so, I had these few thoughts about the individual mission system, leaked recently. No new information surfaced for now, but I can already see some pitfalls, that might hinder it a bit. Let’s talk about some of those. Contrary to popular opinion, I find the fact that unless you are insanely good, you have to play arty for Object 260 very entertaining Smile I mean… why not? Other issues however…

Platoons

Please don’t include that requirement. Let me tell you why – it’s from my own experience in other games, here – specifically – World of Warcraft.

I think that by now we all realize, that the IM’s are essentially series of chain missions. WoW had chain quest too and it was always extremely difficult to get help with them, because other players were alwawys at different stage of the quest. Usually the way it was done was that a player joined a party for the entire chain quest, if the quest included a party-required part (for example some quest chains ended with a party having to defeat a very tough enemy, that required cooperation). If you lost that party somewhere in the process – good luck finding another one, that’s on the same stage as you. You managed to do that only if you were really lucky and it always took time.Same thing will happen here, IF the missions behave like chain mission (win one, unlock next one). Why help someone if you are not on that stage yet? And who will help you?

Plus, platoon requirement is a huge pain in the ass for notorious solo players like me. I have to admit, I don’t enjoy platoons, I can’t play with them, having to take one friendly (instead of treating the entire team as hostile and/or full of idiots) actually slows me down and annoys me (unless it’s a friendly player I really sit well, but those are like two people I know of). I don’t want to platoon and I don’t want to look for anyone to actually help me – I am also sure many feel the same way (and that’s without the entire “chain” problem with the first part).

Please don’t include any social softcaps like this, that put organized players in better position. That’s what Stronghold, CW, companies and everything else is in the game for.

Rigging

Wanna bet that a couple of people will get the Object 260 on the second night it’s out? Not through skill or knowledge of the game – they will rig the games. As you saw in the leak from earlier, getting Object 260 will be very, very difficult. The more difficult the prize, the more likely it is someone (frustrated/crooked enough) will try to rig it. I mean, I think my personal record is somewhere around 9k damage per battle in a Jagdtiger? There is NO way I am doing a 10k without sheer luck.

Rigging random battles is piss easy. You just wait until the lowest possible online time (4AM or so) and you ask a few of your buddies (or, in some cases, entire teams of clanmembers) to wait until that time – and you press “battle” all at the same time. On high tiers especially, there is a huge chance of you ending up all in the same battle filling both teams in extreme cases and…. there you go. This is obviously not some theoretical construct, this has happened in the past many times and it’s punishable by bans.

With that being said, Wargaming HAS to implement some very tough oversight, including removing the prize tanks from the offenders. What good is a ban for a week (or even a month), when you end up with a unique tank? Of course, Wargaming being Wargaming, I expect this part to be a massive fail with riggers going unpunished, but I’d love nothing more than to be proven wrong on this.

A: “It’s 20k in total – blocked + dealt. Statistics show that it’s possible. When creating the missions, we considered how many tanks roughly do we want to give away and based upon this number we made the statistical thresholds.”Q (redacted): “If it’s not too complicated, please tell us how many battles with such statistics (20k blocked + dealt damage were there in 9.4?”
A: “It’s complicated. This is not exactly a matter I am dealing with, I simply made an inquiry what is planned and how. It’s about skill + luck, not just luck. Considering that we did not anticipate it to be accessible to the masses. To achieve the mission goal will be very difficult. But whether the requirements for the tank will be changed or not, I can’t say yet.”
Q: “We’ll be lucky if 10 people finish it.”
A: “We are planning for the top mission to be completed by several tens of thousands of players in 2015.”

If WW1 history is your thing, check out this site. It’s interesting to put it mildly.

Also, wondering about the effects of gun-laying versus stabilizer? Which one is better? There’s an interesting summary on US forums – check it out.

- Maus in the game has the armor it had in real life (WG measured the real vehicle)
- apparently, IS-7 armor is historical (SS: some players claim otherwise, Storm disagrees)
- Storm states that the mod that displays what type of shell penetrated you and by whom will be dealt with by reducing the amount of data about the shot, that reaches the client
- yesterday, Storm stated that the new Bigworld version is the reason for the delay of render range being reworked to a circle. Now he adds that the new motion physics were reworked for the same reason – the first thing WG wants to do is to integrate new BW and after that comes everything else. Otherwise they’d be buried under an avalanche of bugs.
- developers are working on Havok, but Storm states that unfortunately, Havok is delayed by the performance drops it causes. They are working on it.- as a reaction to argument that mobile heavy tanks are fine and that IS-7 mobility is nerfed and Object 260′s is not (and that IS-7 should thus be buffed to historical values), Storm replies that the difference between the two is that Object 260 can be penetrated even in the middle part of the turret
- the HESH mechanics rework doesn’t look too well, Storm states that he does not know how to implement it without making it either imbalanced or completely useless
- Storm states that the main arguments against gold ammo damage nerf is a) loss of profit b) making the game less fun (“making it percieved worse”) by a “certain part of targetted audience”.
- introducing more shell types or complicated shell mechanics is not an option, as it would make the game incomprehensible for most players, who are “common, normal people, many, many of those are not gamers”
- Storm explains why he is against hiding player statistics (including noobmeter etc.): “If the player hides his statistics, it means he’s either a tomato (and he’s ashamed) or an unicum (and doesn’t want to be targetted as first). And that means that this guy would be mocked by various means: by chat, shooting, pushing, blocking etc. And that’s just one of the negative moments of statistics hiding.”
- Storm states that it’s possible to theoretically implement “statistics hiding” by the method of hiding player nickname in battle (the player would only be displayed as “Player X”, with his full name displayed only after the battle). This option will be discussed by developers.
- Storm states that the three caliber rule was introduced for the light tanks to be penetrated by big shells
- the damage eaten by tracks (permadetrack during sidescraping) counting as blocked damage will not be returned

US Server – WG Enforcing Campaign 3 Fair Play

Hello everyone,

those few, who follow the events of Clanwars campaign number 3 know that game rigging happens – the UNICA case being only the latest example on the EU server. To prevent such cases happening on the US server, WG NA decided to do something very interesting. They decided to run a log of investigated CW battles.

Too bad it’s missing names, but then the effect is clear. CW campaign battles reported by other players, flagged by an automated anti-rigging system (there is actually such a thing, as RU server periodically reports the names of banned players, who got caught rigging) or through random checks.

And the EU server? Well, you guessed right… no such topic. After all, we wouldn’t want the privacy of riggers and frauds violated, would we?

I actually think it’s a pretty interesting initiative. Let’s see how it goes.
